What if the rules you’ve been living by… aren’t actually yours?
Most of us grew up believing there was a “right” way to do everything; eat your vegetables before dessert, work before play, dress a certain way, speak a certain way. Over time, those repeated patterns become your programming. They shape your habits, beliefs and behaviours.
The question is: Are they still serving you?
This week, I want you to be disruptive.
Cross your arms the opposite way. Brush your teeth with your non-dominant hand. Take a different route home. Sit in a different chair. Eat dessert first.
For over a year, I wrote one sentence every day with my non-writing hand. Not because I wanted better handwriting, but because I wanted to remind myself that changing old programming isn’t easy. It takes awareness, repetition and persistence.
Every time you interrupt an automatic pattern, you prove to yourself that you’re capable of creating a new one.
Have some fun this week. Challenge the way you’ve always done things and notice what comes up. Put yourself out there, do something that makes you feel uncomfortable.
Because if you can change the small things, you can change the big things too.
Have a wonderful week, and let me know what you disrupted.
