Have you ever given a smile to someone and they look away, making it feel just a bit awkward and uncomfortable?
I had the intention through Covid that when I passed someone on the beach, I would say good morning and give them a smile. It was certainly interesting to see how other people responded and how I felt. I got over feeling uncomfortable and forgot about the other person’s reaction and freely smiled. For some people this may have been their only human connection. A smile can uplift you, its free and doesn’t cost you anything. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable if the person doesn’t respond how you would like them to.
This response of being uncomfortable is what most people try to avoid.
Getting outside the comfort zone is where you’ll find growth and more confidence. What have you done this year to get uncomfortable?
Can you share more smiles too?
