Are you truly happy every morning with your life? I spoke with a friend today who realised that they had everything great business, great family, great life, but were still unhappy with in themselves. This got me really thinking about how many of us conform to the expectations of society, family, work and even our partners. Being someone or something else instead of your true self. And you may or may not get to this point in your life. Some people can go through completely oblivious and unaware that life can be better and is meant to be better.
The conversation I had today really sparked my thinking about allowing ourselves to really find out and turn towards what it is that we really want. I spent so many years of focusing on what I didn’t want and felt a lot of frustration and anger because I wasn’t really doing what I wanted to do. I also blamed others instead of taking responsibility for my choices.
“If I want to be free, I’ve gotta be me.”
“Not the me that I think you think I should be. Not the me that I think my wife/husband thinks I should be. Not the me that I think my kids think I should be. If I want to be free, I’ve got be me. So I better know who me is.” Bill Gove. I absolutely love this quote and my mentor Bob Proctor says it often. I really resonate with it as I spent so many years trying to please others. We can go through years of education, professional and personal achievements and still not really know who we are.
I want you to really think about this for yourself.
Stop being what other people think you should be and start acting like the person you really want to be. Two things are holding you back from whatever it is that you want to do—your perception and a lack of awareness.
Start to really consider what it is that you really want and give yourself permission to go there. Don’t even consider the how. Just focus on what it is that you want for you.
