How do you measure yourself?
My mentor shared this in an email recently and I have made a few adaptations.

“The system teaches you that you are only right as your best version. And only then you will be loved and only then you will be praised and only then you are good. And those who make the fewest mistakes are the best. That starts very early on in life and continues on”

This is part of the bigger problem, masking who you are to fit into social expectations and how to behave and show up in a certain way. This is why so many people are unhappy. You only accept praise and love only when you think you deserve it and that is rare.

So now you are told and you tell yourself: you are the problem.

At school you are taught to gather knowledge, and then assessed on how well you remember this knowledge. You are not an empty cup that needs filling. Your cup is already full. You are here to experience life. To find out what potential exists inside of you and you are here to make the best of experiences. You are here to dream. You are here to live. To have fun on the journey.

Can we start teaching our children that there is not only one version of themselves?
Can we start teaching them that there is no such construct as good and bad?

That a “mistake” is growth. And that’s where confidence comes from.
You were never meant to be measured by how well you do at school or by your mistakes. Let go of that!!

How would you like to measure yourself instead moving forward?

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Watch your words

One of the hardest things to do…

One of the hardest things to do… is REST. This was something I was never really good at. I couldn’t even take five minutes out for myself without justifying how “busy” I was. It used to feel really uncomfortable to put myself first. Thankfully I have learnt how do to...

Is there ever a “right time”?

Is there ever a “right time”?

People often tell themselves  that they are  too busy, too early, too late, or I’ll start "when the time is right." But what if time isn't the problem? Nature doesn't hesitate. A tree knows when to let go of its leaves and when to grow new ones. It doesn't overthink...
